Valerie Pratt - Different

My mom wishes I were normal.
She wishes that I were interested in modeling,
Boys,
Shopping,
Partying.
She probably wishes I had anorexia,
Just so she could relate to me.
Alas, I am far from ever being a model,
There is only one boy for me,
Shopping bores me,
And partying is pointless.
I am not a typical girl.
No,
I don’t like any of that.
I like video games,
Politics,
Guns,
Japanese.
I have no need for such useless behavior.
I know what I want to do with the rest of my life.
I enjoy hanging out and playing video games.
She doesn’t understand.
She doesn’t understand that I don’t want to be anyone but me.
She doesn’t understand the friendships I have.
She doesn’t understand that my heart is fragile,
And that she’s broken it many times.
And every time it’s been broken,
He was there to pick up the pieces and give me hope.
