After configuring SQL Server to support the Filestream, Scott creates a new database & table that uses the Filestream data type. The Filestream data type is new in SQL Server 2008 & enables storing binary large object (BLOB) data like pictures and music as a file on a share to efficiently store the data while treating it as an integral part of the database so backup & restore operations include the Filestream data as well.
