US waters down draft resolution on Sri Lanka
Description
In a significantly watered down draft of the resolution on Sri Lanka the US has called for an internal probe into the alleged war crimes committed by the Lankan army as compared to the independent international probe. In a more toned down resolution as compared to the previous drafts, fewer references to human rights violations have been made. Meanwhile, the Indian Ambassador to the UN will be flying down to Delhi with revised draft. As political pressure builds on the Indian Govt to suggest amendments, what is to been seen is, whether Indian Govt will suggest any more changes.
