US sugar industry opposes controls

It is a common staple across the world, but too much sugar in people's diets has been blamed for causing diabetes, tooth decay, and even dementia. The sugar industry says its not harmful to consume it in moderation, but some researchers say the manufacturers are trying to mislead consumers. Some campaigners are calling for stricter controls on the sweet substance that would be similar to those placed on the tobacco trade. Al Jazeera's Brian Rooney reports from California.
