US jury convicts Viktor Bout

A U.S. jury finds Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout guilty on charges he agreed to sell arms to people he thought were Colombian militants intent on attacking American soldiers.
He was found guilty of conspiracy to kill U.S citizens and officers, to sell anti-aircraft missiles and providing material support to a terrorist organization.
He faces 25 years to life in prison.
Bout's attorney said they would appeal the conviction.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEFENSE ATTORNEY ALBERT DAYAN, SAYING:
"I can generally tell you that we are very disappointed about this verdict but the jury has spoken. This is definitely not the end of the process for us, we intend to appeal by way of motions to this judge and that we intend to go to the United States Court of Appeals
The former Soviet air force officer was arrested in Bangkok in 2008 in a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) sting operation.
He was then extradited to New York in 2010 to face charges.
Russia said on Thursday it would try to bring him home but did not say how this might happen.
