The United States Embassy in South Africa is keeping silent following reports that Iran is planning to assassinate ambassador Lana Marks. The information is allegedly contained in US intelligence. The plot is supposed to be in retaliation for America's killing of a powerful Iranian general earlier this year. But Tehran has rubbished the claims, saying they are simply meant to tarnish its image.
