US builiding worth $1 demolished

Crowds gather to watch the 19-story Genesee Towers, the tallest building in the city of Flint, Michigan, being demolished

The US city of Flint's tallest building, the 19-story Genesee Towers, was reduced to rubble i on Sunday.

Crowds of people gathered to watch the implosion which transformed the 45-year-old building into over 30,000 tons of concrete in a matter of seconds.

Uptown Reinvestment bought the building, that had been empty for years, from the city for just $1.

Plans are to transform the site into a family-friendly plaza with a science theme as part of a larger downtown redevelopment effort.
