Uriah Hamilton - Sunsets

I am as sorry
as the rain
that weeps
at dawn
that I ever hurt you
like a screeching
railroad brake
on a rusty track.

there are
so many words
that we've spoken
that we can never take back
like a frozen
Polaroid of emotions
sterilized in time.

Happiness and love
are for romantic youths
but we're older and lonely,
less hopeful but less confused;
our lives now are sunsets
of tattered memories
and lingering regrets.
