Uriah Hamilton - Burning Poems
5 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
I smile amid the lonely city blues
While people I love disappear
In life’s transitory foggy mist.
There’s a certain woman’s tender mouth
I can’t remember what it felt like to kiss.
I gravitate toward dark avenues,
Shady bars and bitter-tasting booze.
You won’t recognize me
The next time we meet:
My hazel eyes have turned grey
On my increasingly despondent face.
I’m burning poems I wrote for you,
Their ashes flicker away in the empty sky
Like the memories of childhood dreams.
