Uriah Hamilton - Beautiful Idiot

I’m a warm-hearted peasant
In the unrelenting cold
Holding in my hand
A deck of desired lovers
With broken promises untold.

I keep the homeless street people
Endlessly amused
Recounting stories of ignorance and innocence
In pursuit of making a lonely connection
With beautiful girls
Skilled in the art
Of manipulative rejection.

But no fall or terrible blunder
Threatening to destroy my mind
And plow me under
Ever leaves me disconcerted
Or skeptical of my destiny:

I’m the beautiful idiot
Weaving rose petals into necklaces
And showering the world
With kindness and romantic dreams.
