UPA's Loan Waiver Scam

In the 1980s, Rajiv Gandhi had famously remarked that out of every 100 rupees spent by the government, only 15 reaches the people. It looks like - in all these years - very little has changed.

The Comptroller and Auditor General has found - in preliminary findings given to the Finance Ministry - that benefits of the much touted loan waiver scheme for poor farmers - has been cornered by ineligible people.

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram may be preparing the 2013 budget, but meanwhile, the promises of 2008 are clearly going horribly wrong. It's the latest scam hitting the UPA government.
