Understanding our Earth system (part 2)

GOCE will give us a better understanding of the physics of Earth's interior, the ocean currents and heat transport in the seas. It will also give us a better global height-reference system, which can serve as a reference surface for the study of topographic processes and sea-level change, and better estimates of the thickness of polar ice-sheets and their movement.
