UN set to visit troubled Darfur

UN envoys are set to visit the western region of Darfur, hoping to stir the Sudanese authorities into ending the seven-year conflict there.

The Security Council officials have already visited South Sudan, hoping to secure a peaceful indpendence vote there in January.

They are hoping a new peace strategy adopted by the Sudanese government will bring calm to the troubled Darfur region.
