UK driver's quick reactions avert head-on collision

This UK driver's quick reactions at the wheel saved his family from a head-on collision that could have had catastrophic consequences.

The driver was on his way home from his daughter's football match on the main road between Matlock and Derby when a car coming in the opposite direction suddenly veers towards him.

After the incident, the driver pulls up on the side of the road.

"How the **** did I miss that ****, then?" he asks.

He later wrote online: "it was on the main road from Matlock to Derby (A6 I think it was). The other driver stopped as she ended up on the grass verge with airbags deployed from hitting the embankment.

"I was just having a chilled-out drive home from my daughter's football match.

"We stopped and got out to check everyone was OK in the other car, didn't call the police as no one was hurt and there was no damage.

"After chatting to the other driver all we could make out was she caught part of the grass verge and over-steered too much," he said.
