UK Could Freeze as Ocean Current Collapse Becomes More Likely

Could the UK really be buried in snow due to a collapsing ocean current? Scientists are warning that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) — the powerful system that includes the Gulf Stream — may be heading toward a tipping point faster than we thought. This current keeps the UK and parts of Europe mild, but new long-term climate models show a collapse could happen within decades, not centuries. That would mean colder winters, drier summers, sea level rise, and global disruptions. Even in low-emission scenarios, the risk remains. So… are we already too close to the edge?
