Description

U.S. forces say the Navy's newest anti-missle interceptor passed its most recent test with flying colors.

The Missile-3 inteceptor, which is designed to protect allies from attacks from countries like Iran or North Korea, successfully downed a test missile near Hawaii on Wednesday.

This is good news for Raytheon, the manufacturer of the interceptor, who struggled with delays after the Missle-3 failed its first test last September.

According to the pentagon, the short-range ballistic target missile was launched from the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Hawaii.

The advanced interceptor is key to the next phase of an anti-missile shield being built by the United States in and around Europe.
