U.N. monitors leave Syria

They're leaving --- These UN observers, some of the last still in Syria, gathered at a Damascus hotel --- their final stop before heading out.

Many found themselves helpless spectators to the conflict that is being played out on the country's streets...and in the sky.

Smoke on Deraa's skyline in this video posted to a social media website served as further evidence of the failed ceasefire between government forces and rebels.

The monitors' mandate ended Sunday and the last of the group are expected to be out of the country by Friday.
