Eastern China on Friday (August 3) grappled with floods brought by two typhoons that took two lives and prompted an evacuation of 870,000 people, state media reported.
Typhoons Saola and Damrey landed within 10 hours of each other on Thursday (August 1) night to Friday (August 2) morning, tearing down trees and flooding fields and towns in the eastern Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shandong provinces.
The typhoons have affected more than two million people, reported state newspaper China Daily.

Typhoon Saola, which claimed at least six lives in Taiwan and 39 in the Philippines, landed at southeastern Fujian province's Fuding city at 6:50 am on Friday (2250 GMT on August 2), state media reported.
