Officials from South Korea and North Korea held their second round of working level talks on Wednesday to discuss details of the first inter-Korean summit in more than a decade.
The working-level talks took place at the Tongilgak administrative building on the northern side of the truce village of Panmunjom, just across the border from the Peace House, the venue for the upcoming summit set for Friday 27th.
The government's preparatory committee for the summit said the two sides discussed protocols and security measures for the leaders, and the means and scope of media coverage of the historic event. The discussions began at 10 a.m. and lasted for more than 5 hours.
The committee said that more than 2,800 journalists from South Korea and abroad have registered to cover the summit, including press from 15 nations, such as Iran, India and Canada, that did not visit during the 2007 summit.
This is nearly double the number of reporters for the past two inter-Korean summits, and its the first time that such a large number of reporters will visit South Korea.
Also, since this will be the first time the summit will take place on the Southern side of the divided peninsula, the committee claimed the two sides agreed for the summit to be broadcast live through an online press center.
It added that the presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae would announce further details through a press briefing which will come in the next couple of hours.
