Turkish graft prosecuters dismissed

Four Turkish prosecutors and one judge, who had been involved in the country’s biggest-ever corruption investigation have themselves been dismissed.

The five had targeted politicians, businessmen and cabinet ministers claiming they were all embroiled in wide-ranging corruption practices .

But after months of investigations all charges were were quashed, and the suspects acquitted by a parliamentary vote.

The government described the graft probe as a “coup attempt” launched by the “parallel structure” within the state, which refers to the followers of U.S.-based Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, Ankara’s ally-turned-nemesis.
