Turkish capital quiet
Description
There was calm in the streets of the Turkish capital Ankara on Monday morning (June 3) after night-long clashes but security was bracing for another day of violence.
Police detained more than 200 protesters during the overnight clashes according state-run Anatolian News Agency reported on Sunday.
Turkey's most violent riots in decades were started by the destruction of a small Istanbul park which protesters demonstrated against last week. But after police waded in to clear them out the protests exploded in a show of defiance at what many see as the creeping authoritarianism of Erdogan.
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Turkey's four biggest cities on Sunday and clashed with riot police firing tear gas in the third day of the fiercest anti-government protests in years.
