Sir Richard "Dick" Carewe, a wealthy and sophisticated British gentleman, has raised a young man, Richard Dane, as his ward since the boy's father's death. But Dane, now grown and impulsive, has fallen head-over-heels for the seductive and worldly actress Kara, known as "The Firefly".
