Trucker's death: Protests in Anantnag

Protestors erupted on Monday (October 19) in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, over the death of a 20-year-old trucker, despite a curfew imposed in many areas across Anantnag. Clashes were reported between the protestors and police in Anantnag, while the protestors demanded strict action against the accused. Authorities today imposed restrictions in several areas in Kashmir and placed several separatist leaders under house arrest in view of a strike called in wake of the death of a trucker, who was critically injured in a petrol bomb attack in Udhampur 10 days back. Strict restrictions have been imposed on movement of people in Anantnag and Bijbehara police station areas in South Kashmir, a police official said. Similar restrictions have been imposed in six police station areas of Srinagar M R Gunj, Nowhatta, Safa kadal, maisuma, Rainawari and Khanyar.
