Trinity not in Bible - Dr.Bart Ehrman

TRINITY is the most important doctrine of Christianity which is not mentioned in Bible, except 1John; 5:7,8; “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one.” (in some volumes this changed as : “There are three witnesses, the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree”. In the foot not of this verse in ‘New International Version Bible’ it is written; ‘*not found in any Greek manuscript before the sixteen century. Dr C.I, Scofield, D.D. backed by eight other D.D.’s in a footnote to this verse opine: “It is generally agreed that this verse has no manuscript authority and has been inserted.”The fundamentalist Christians still retain this fabrication whereas; in all the modern translations including the Revised Standard Version (RSV) this pious deceit has been unceremoniously expunged* [more at: http://wp.me/PCgrB-cS]
As it is well known to Biblical scholars that *son* does not denote physical relationship like human beings, its metaphorically used in Bible for closeness and respect. This versed does not mention that Jesus Christ is God or like God or part of Trinity. One may extend the imagination to draw whatever meanings as he like.
The Hebrews believed that God is ONE, and had neither wife nor children in any literal sense; hence it is obvious that the expression “son of God” merely meant to them “Servant of God”; one who, because of his faithful service, was close and dear to God, as a son is to a father. Christians who came from a Greek and Roman background, later misused this term. In their heritage, “son of God” signified an incarnation of a god or someone born of a physical union between male and female gods.
What about numerous clear verses in the Bible (few mentioned below) which mention about ONE SINGLE GOD? If we are travelling in wilderness and find a road junction, one road marked clearly with other evidences, leading to our destination while the other route is unmarked, or marked ambiguously. Why should one leave the clearly marked road to choose ambiguous route which might lead us to hell fire?
And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac”. (Genesis;28:13)
*In the New Testament seventeen passages, wherein the Father is styled one or only God, while there is not a single passage in which the Son is so styled*.
There are 320 passages in which the Father is absolutely, and by way of eminence, called God; while there is not one in which the Son is thus called.
There are 105 passages in which the Father is denominated God, with peculiarly high titles and epithets, whereas the Son is not once denominated.
There are 90 passages wherein it is declared that all prayers and praises ought to be offered to Him.
Of 1,300 passages in the New Testament wherein the word God is mentioned, not one necessarily implies the existence of more than one person in the Godhead. http://bible-pedia.blogspot.com
