Treatment for sciatica typically consists of physical therapy and anti-inflammatory medication. Sciatica treatments do include surgery, however surgery is not a typical treatment for sciatica. Sciatica is a sharp pain in the hip or thigh that radiates to other body areas. The two phases of sciatica are the acute phase which involves protecting injured tissue & controlling pain & inflammation. The subacute phase results in regaining full pain-free range motion of the spine, pelvis & lower limbs
