Travis Snell - Talking To The Piano

I heard her talking to the piano.
I was lucky enough to be there.
Eavesdropping, yes, but rude? I don't think so.
I merely overheard the music in the air,
But it was more than tones and melodies.
It was like Shakespeare without real words.
It was a beautiful dialogue, you see?
And I’m so grateful that I heard
Her talking to the piano.

If I could speak their vernacular,
Just imagine what they said.
She, “We go well together.”
He, “Don’t let it go to your head.”
It’s too bad I couldn’t decipher it.
It’s a shame I didn’t understand.
Maybe I would have taken part in it
Had I been taught by the music stand.
But still I heard her talking to the piano.
I was lucky enough to be there.
