Transistor Testing using Analog Multimeter for dailymotion
50 Views • Jan 28, 2024
Description
In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the process of testing a transistor using an analog multimeter. Transistor testing is a crucial step in electronics troubleshooting, and with the help of a simple analog multimeter, you can quickly assess the condition of your transistors.
Equipment Needed:
Analog Multimeter
Radio components required:
NPN Transistor C945
Testing Steps:
First of all zero adjustment by connecting both probes.
Connect Black Probe to Base Terminal:
Place the black probe of your analog multimeter on the base terminal of the transistor.
Connect Red Probe to Collector and Emitter Terminals:
Connect the red probe on the collector terminal and note the reading on the meter.
Move the red probe to the emitter terminal and observe the reading on the scale. A low resistance reading indicates a healthy transistor.
Change Probe Placement on Base Terminal:
Swap the probes on the base terminal. Place the red probe on the base and black probe on the collector and then on the emitter terminals one by one.
A high resistance reading on the meter confirms the proper functioning of the transistor.
Leakage Test:
For leakage testing, place the red probe on the collector and the black probe on the emitter.
A high resistance reading indicates that the transistor is in good condition.
Probe Alteration Check:
Alter the probe connections on the transistor (e.g., swap red and black probes).
If the meter shows high resistance, it signals that the probes are correctly positioned, providing an additional check for the transistor's condition.
️ Conclusion:
Testing transistors using an analog multimeter is a straightforward process. By following these steps, you can quickly determine the health of your transistors and ensure they are in good working condition for your electronic projects.
