Trackmaster percy new *New design* & Trackmaster Madge

Hey Guys and Gals! Here we have the all newer new Trackmaster Percy that is redesigned with newer flat drive unit and animatedface.\r

I got this Percy on ebay a couple of weeks ago and have been very keen to make this video as I wanted to see the first new type of regular Percy since 1993, so quite a long time unchanged and this is a refreshing change, but I am sure they could have made it much smaller but they have been lazy again and used the old shell design with a few small detail changes and the same dimensions. They could have done some things like they did with the new Thomas to improve the look seeing as the cab no longer has to house the large older type of drive unit.\r

How does it look?\r

Very much similar to the old Percy but there are some small changes. The coal bunker is full now almost to the point of overflowing and Im sure this is to house the longer drive unit. The face is the newer type that fans would associate with the animatedand s and is also featured in the Take n play and wooden ranges. Trackmaster and Plarail trains are often very slow to receive any sort of update like the other ranges do. There are holes in the wheels which are standard Trackmaster fare these days, they are used to hold the loco down in the packaging via sticks.\r

How does it run?\r

Trackmaster Percy new runs very very well as do all the engines fitted with this newer type of drive unit, the problem though with these is often the noise they produce, this Percy is not so loud but its not silent either. One of the best performers I have ever seen on the Trackmaster motorized turntable and excellent performance on the hill climb with little loss of speed with the climb. The running speed was also very good and I hope later in the year when they have a revamp of the range with their new track type and new faster engines that they differentiate between fast engines and slow engines as they are all the same speed at the moment (Gordon is no faster than Percy etc), this will increase play value I feel.\r

I give this new Trackmaster Percy a 7.5/10 It is a very good engine overall but they have been lazy and recycled the shell from the older version. And a few issues with the eye paint on the face and it was not easy to attach the body shell to the chassis (it lifted off at one point while filming showing it was not fastened down)\r
