BJP on Friday asked Election Commission to probe Trinamool Congress' expenditure statement and cancel its registration if found guilty of furnishing false information.

A delegation of BJP leaders, led by party general secretary Ashim Sarkar, met Bengal's chief electoral officer with a complaint listing "startling discrepancies" in Trinamool's balance sheet submitted to EC by party general secretary Mukul Roy for 2013-2014. Last September, Trinamool had furnished information about contribution received by the party. The submission, signed by Roy, lists a donation of Rs 1.4 crore from Trinetra Consultant through RTGS (a fund transfer system) at Allahabad Bank's Harish Mukherjee Road branch.

Sarkar said, "Trinetra Consultant did not make any RTGS from Allahabad Bank as the company does not have any bank account with this particular bank."
