I

daffodils tinged brown arched over
hunch backed broken

everything
is so ahead of itself

sparrows freeze
as they shatter through

mid march expels them

II

april snow surprises us
and clamps us

to a week
end with no fire wood or wine

we will attempt to save what
we thought we had but

we will see our marriage
tinged brown our kids estranged


III

we could cut stems plant bulbs
wait through thaw of idiot spring

opening
our yellow heads

dropping
our green hearts
