Description

I missed your words and never saw the movement of your hand
how little we see or ever understand
all the days pass all the days pass all the days pass and
after the waves there are no footprints on the sand

and yes I know my eyes burn with uncried tears
strangely untroubled though by the looming fears
and simply watch and wonder at the years
and how all that seemed so vivid simply disappears
all the days pass all the days pass all the days pass and
after the waves there are no footprints on the sand

it has been too long now since this path was crossed
the ancient rocks are rounded now and softly mossed
forget-me-nots are flowering in spite of the frost
of whoever it was gave them their name, all memory is lost
all the days pass all the days pass all the days pass and
after the waves there are no footprints on the sand

slowly we travel home as the huge earth turns
the night creeps in around where this fire still burns
the wind wanders wistful through the wands of last years ferns
whispering the one word no one ever learns
all the days pass all the days pass all the days pass and
after the waves there are no footprints on the sand
