Henry, you're so sweet.
Today, a year ago, you died,
You accepted defeat.
Leukemia took your life,
Faster than it should
We didn't see the signs,
It was too late when we could.
They said 3-5 months,
Is what they'd give.
A day later,
They said 3-5 days to live.
I didn't want to see you,
I didn't want to ruin my fun.
Had tears in my eyes, so blue,
All I wanted to do was run.
Run to a place where you weren't sick.
Were every single second,
Wasn't a deathly tick.
Under the covers,
Your chest was a little bump.
Your breath would stop coming,
Then start again with a jump.
You said you were sorry,
But we both knew you weren't the one to blame.
Leukemia took your life,
Now it will never be the same.
My mom came upstairs,
She said, 'Henry died.'
Every tear fell to the floor,
As every second passed by.
The funeral,
It was even sadder.
People were talking and some were laughing!
Now I was getting mad.
Later, at grandmas house,
We all went there.
Irvin got drunk,
And acted as if no one else cared!
I took 1 or 2 CDs of yours,
I hope you don't mind.
I took them,
To have something that will remind.
We all lost someone we loved,
He was lost to a disease.
A year ago, we lost you,
The pain still has not ceased.
I am glad I went,
To the hospice to say goodbye.
If I hadn't I would regret,
Every second that was passing me by.
