A love not returned
Is like a heart half beating
like a wave half crashing
Like a bird half singing

Yet love has no rules
No guidelines to abide
rather a path well trodden
with a loved one by our side

When one set of footprints
Are seen along to road
It seems wrong to think
One should travel alone

Why is love such a mystery
a garden of beauty and thorns
a billion piece puzzle
an angel with horns

If love is felt but not shown
If love is given but never received
How can love be seen
How can love be conceived

Like a automobile
That if one part is amiss
it could take you nowhere
Is love like this

I suppose persistence, honesty
that may be the key
But once it's unveiled
will he ever look at me?
