Three Lions to inspire England?

Hopes of England clinching victory at this summer's World Cup are at an all time low, thanks to injuries and scandals but David Baddiel may have the answer with the football anthem, Three Lions.

Baddiel said: "With this re-issue of the song, hopefully that will inspire them again."

The track was originally co-written and performed by Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lighting Seeds in 1996, but a new version produced by Trevor Horn will be unveiled in the coming months. And fans of the song will still be able to croon along to most of the words.

The comic and writer said: "No I am not changing the lyrics again."

He added: "I think we are going to sing 'all those years of hurt' rather than thirty, because thirty doesn't make any mathematical sense."

The latest version of Three Lions has a tough act to follow. The song topped the charts in 1996 and 1998, while the single also reached number 16 in 2002 and number nine in 2006.
