THROWIN SHAPES
Irish born and bred, residing in Toronto, producer and DJ, Neil Mooney, aka Throwin Shapes, developed his wide-ranging sound by immersing himself in Toronto’s diverse underground music scene for the last 10 years. Having deejayed at some of the city’s most forward-thinking music events, Mooney has now focused his attention on production.

His debut release was in November of last year as part of an 11 track compilation on Proper Trax. Following that release he signed 8 of his original tracks with newly-started vinyl-only label Religio. Here he shows the full and eclectic range of his musical influences; dark dub and deep house acid and techno. Expansive yet intimate, banging while still soulful, percussive and melodic.
The double vinyl only album, Pembroke Session is gained support from Agoria, Daniel Mehlhart, Madloch, Marco Fender, Ondrej, Joy Kitikonti, Mollono Bass, Mark Brain, Leri Lehal and Janosch Gebauer (Faze Mag) to name a few. Pembroke Session is music for the late night.

With a healthy backlog of unrelased tracks of Dub Techno, house and acid lined up and a 4 track digital EP with Happy Day Records, Throwin Shapes will be one to watch.
