Thousands stranded as immigration system crashes for second time this year

Tens of thousands of people were stuck in long queues at entry points nationwide after Malaysia's entire immigration system crashed for five hours between 4.30am and 9.30am on Thursday (May 28), forcing officers to clear travellers manually.

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban confirmed the system was down from around 5am to 8.45am due to technical issues at the Malaysian Immigration Systems data centre.
