YOURS
Night falls again,
Which leads me out to the gardens.
Away from the city, the noise, and the lights.
I find myself looking at the same star.
It sits right in between the pines, to the left
Of the moon when the moon is in attendance.
It dances softly to the crickets and the breeze.
I notice it every night because it reminds me of you.
I can see thousands of stars, but it stands out.
It has no problem being seen, though it doesn’t try.
It is humble, yet stunning in every sense of the word.
It holds no key role in the Big Dipper or Orion or the likes,
But it holds a vital role in the sky as a whole.
It doesn’t have a drive for attention,
But it collects every bit of mine.
You are special, you are brilliant, you are loved.
