You are of dreams, my true companion dear
A noble friend composed of song and light
Whose presence banishes my every fear
And makes a day of the eternal night
Through which I stumble blindly every day
Through which, beside my pale form, you stand
My darling one who, smiling, lights my way
And when I fall does kneel to give her hand
Which, tender soft, when I grow weary, weak
Descends to cradle, lovingly, my head
I have so many words and thanks’ to speak
But in my mind I whisper this instead:
You are of dreams, an angel shining bright
A veritable star, and my delight.
