Thistle Wargul - Goodbye*

My friend I’ve got a thing to tell you,
A thing I’d rather not.
A secret I wish could be prevented,
A secret that cannot.

I’m going a-traveling over yonder hills,
To places hot and dry.
I’m a-flying in the cold clear blue,
Of strange and darker skies.
I’m dragged away by the path of life,
Holding me through the years.
But though my family’s a-coming too,
I’m leaving you behind.

My friend, companion and candle,
Lighting the darkest night.
You lead me in, you lead me out,
You never left my side.
Your steadfast friendship meant so much to me,
Nothing you can buy.
And now I’ve gone and let you down,
I’m leaving you behind.

I’m a-sailing on the deep blue sea,
In a boat of woody brown.
I’m a-standing in the heeling prow,
Salt crystals everywhere.
I’m a-sitting on a broken horse,
Who nickers where he stands.
I can heal his wounds,
But only pray,
That you will understand.

Don’t let my tears, hold you back:
Their sorrow stains the ground.
Don’t stay there waiting, carry on:
For I fear to hold you back.
Rise strong, tall and proud,
Against those foes I left you.
Use the friends, I once had,
To aid you I your plights.
