This Six-Legged Robot Is Inspired By Tarantulas
Description
by Anthony Falco
A six-legged, tarantula-inspired robot built by a Norwegian engineer is getting a lot of attention for its ability to climb challenging terrain – and for its creepiness. Kåre Halvorsen is an amateur robot maker who 3D-printed the MX-Phoenix in his spare time in his garage. It’s remote-controlled, uses 18 motors and weighs around 11 pounds. The hexapod design allows the robot to keep moving when a leg becomes disabled. Halverson says the robot could be used in “search and rescue” missions – or just for fun.The post This Six-Legged Robot Is Inspired By Tarantulas appeared first on Vocativ.
