This brew is inspired by you.The Meantime Brewing Company wants to create the perfect beer for customers, and it’s using DNA to do it.

The London-based company analyzes DNA from a client’s saliva to find out their personal palate.

They analyze it and look for variations in the oral taste receptor gene, TAS2R38.

That determines a person’s ability to detect propylthiouracil, a chemical similar to bitter compounds found in some food.

Meantime then crafts a beer that caters to the individual’s palate.

But the bill for this beer is a tall one. The process costs $30,000.

At least that gets you 2,000 pints of beer, tailored just for you.
