When I read the poems of poets
Who died before I was born…
I feel a timeless connection
Bypassing bridges that mourn…

To feel the breath of spring
And the sweet smell of flowers
I share the glow of a first love
Silently smiling inwardly for hours

To walk a path that has now vanished
Hearing the songs of nature that repeat
Seeing the aura of the golden sunset
Feeling autumn leaves beneath my feet

To glide on the wings of a soaring eagle
Living in a world where God is in view
Holding time in my hand… between the pages
Absorbing the essence of thoughts that ensue
