Therapy behind bars

Since the new penal code came into force in 2007, more and more prisoners with psychological problems, including paedophiles, who would once have been looked after in mental health clinics, are being committed for therapy behind bars. In 2011, 71 such offenders were given custodial sentences. The treatment is expensive and demand for places far exceeds supply.
