ARTIST : The Watanabes

The Watanabes are an international indie folk pop band made up of two British brothers on guitar and vocals, and a Japanese drummer and bassist. They began life in Ehime, and named themselves Watanabe as a tribute to the warm and friendly local people. In September 2014 they released their 5 track EP Draw What You Like at major record stores across Japan. Produced by David Naughton (Belle & Sebastian, Teenage Fan Club), the record has already received national airplay and positive reviews from the BBC’s Mark Forrest, Amazing Radio’s Beth Elfyn and Guy Perryman on InterFM, and three songs from the record were adopted by CNN International for a TV show on Japanese food. The Watanabes have made some prestigious fans including 60's legend Dave Crosby of The Byrds, and former Guns N Roses drummer Matt Sorum, who they performed alongside in August 2013.

ザ・ワタナベズはギター・ヴォーカルのイギリス人兄弟と日本人のドラムとベースで編成された国境を越えたインディース・フォークポップバンドです。彼らは愛媛県に住み、温かく親切な地元の人たちへの尊敬のしるしとして彼ら自身をワタナベと名付けました。2014年9月に5曲入りのEP『Draw What You Like』が発表され、日本の大手CDストアで販売されています。プロデューサーにDavid Naughton（ベル・アンド・セバスチャン、ティーンエイジ・ファン・クラブ）を迎え完成されたEPは、BBCのMark Forestをはじめ、Amazing RadioのBeth ElfynやインターFMのGuy Perrymanから好評され、国内外で放送されています。また、EPの収録曲はCNN Internationalの日本食を紹介するテレビ番組でも使用されました。ザ・ワタナベズは、60年代の伝説的な存在であるザ・バーズのDave Crosbyといった名声のある人物からも支持され、2013年8月には元ガンズ・アンド・ローゼズのドラムのMatt Sorumとの共演もしました。
