The Undecided School is made up of guitarist/vocalist Tom Whyte, bassist Kieran Furey, and drummer Marc Davies. ================================================= Tom started off as a writer and performer of acoustic songs, with Dylan, Woody Guthrie and others as his guides. However, all this time he was storing up knowledge of rock music. Kieran Furey took up bass guitar to coax him into starting a rock band (something he thought was inevitable and long overdue). After Tom left their first group, another band was planned, and eventually he and Kieran began to write material together. Marc Davies had been playing guitar in various French metal bands before he took an interest in the sound of early Undecided School demos. He decided to take a break from metal and lend his drumming skills to something that was quite different from what he was used to. ================================================== The song writing partnership of Tom Whyte and Kieran Furey began in late 2007. This was four years after they had both started college courses in Galway. Tom spent three years there and then spent a year in Dublin, playing his kind-of folk songs on and off around the city. Furey stuck around Galway for another year, staying on as bass player in the band he and Whyte had started there. By the end of the summer of 2007 they were both living in Dublin, writing music and looking for a drummer to join the Undecided School. French drummer Davies joined in late 2008 and their four-song demo Shine Your Shoes was recorded a few weeks later.
