It's not all arranged marriages and matrimonial sites in Mumbai. There is a thriving nightlife and singles scene. What's the experience of being single in Mumbai?

Being single is sort of good. It gives you a freedom which you wouldn't get in any other city in India. What's it like to be single for you in Mumbai?

Freedom. What does that mean? I can do what I want.

You love your freedom? Yes, that's it. I love my freedom and thats the most important thing in my life. In my mind, I'm very free. I want to do my own thing. I wouldn't mind probably adjusting a bit, but then it should be my own choice. It shouldn't be because somebody's forced it upon me.

Arranged marriages are too contrived. I'm also independent so I don't like people forcing things on me.

Look, when I was fourteen, in school, when we discussed the future, we all knew we would have jobs and then we would get married. By the time I was eighteen, that had changed for years. You had a career and maybe you got married. And then by the time you were 22, it's like: If I find someone, I'll get married."

If they ask you if you want to get settled, you say "You mean, I'm already settled." Because I don't think being settled has to do with a man. I'm too independent for that.

What are you guys all holding out for? I'm looking for a good fit. I'm okay with being by myself. I'm used to being by yourself. Do you think it would be different if you stayed single for a few more years?

Probably. I mean, I'm a human being, I want love, I want marriage. I also want my freedom and my career.

Even if we don't marry, it's because we believe in love. I know a couple of friends who, according to me, have it. If I don't get that or something as good as that, I'm not interested.

Do you feel if you were like 44 and single, and you had a fantastic career and you got to travel the world and speak with woman, do you feel that you would regret the crazy browsing. You don't see me as a cautionary tale?

No, we've met the cautionary tales and they're married! I met some women who did the thing they were supposed to do. And now they're not miserable but they're shadows of themselves.
