The Truth About Spots

Spots can be an absolute nightmare – and it’s not just teenagers who have them.

Many adults who get spots suffer in silence as they are just too nervous or embarrassed to seek advice.

In fact, spot treatment has recently been under the microscope of BBC medical expert Professor Lesley Regan in her hard-hitting television series “Professor Regan’s Health Spa” which investigates the health and beauty industry.
During the four-part series, acclaimed scientist Professor Regan looked at the claims of licensed spot treatments, such as Freederm gel, and compared them to those spot ‘products’ masking as treatments, but which are in fact unlicensed, cosmetic products

She also looked behind the scenes to see what testing had been carried out to support any of these claims. It was no surprise to note that the testing of unlicensed products was inferior to the levels of rigorous testing that precedes a product being granted a licence by the Government body MHRA.
