Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has the maximum number of episodes with 2,725-plus episodes. Ekta Kapoor has maximum eight serials with 1,000+ episodes from her production house. The most popular genre in the country is soap opera/family drama. TV viewership in rural India is much more than urban India now. The content of TV shows is also being modified these days to cater to the growing rural audience. Viewers in the village like soap operas the most, while their city counterparts prefer reality shows/talent search programmes.
