Arirang, Spirit of the Korean people!

Though being sad and plaintive, there is also happiness and delight… That is what the song Arirang is like. Arirang contains all the human emotions including happiness, anger, sadness and joy. Delivering the spirit of each generation, Arirang has been a song of Korean history.

Arirang is a sad and moving song that soothes sadness and resentment of the Korean people. In Korea, the sadness and resentment are called “han.” As the Korean sentiment of sadness, “han” it has been aligned with the sentiment of Arirang throughout all the historical periods of time.

Sadness that 아리랑 delivers is not limited to resignation and a sense of loss. It embraces the unwavering will of the Korean public to overcome the struggles and painful situations.
