Jangdan
In medical circles, there are three vital signs that determine whether the person is alive or not. These are breath, temperature and heartbeat. In music, melody, rhythm and harmony are considered to be three vital factors. But out of the three, only one can create a set of music by itself, and that’s ‘rhythm.’ In Korea, we call it 'jangdan.'
On this week’s ‘The Sensation’, we take our very first step toward a journey to the world of traditional Korean music with Korea’s jangdan.
